HowToImport

NB: This script almost works for wordpress-pg as well. I wrote down my conversion experiences. You can actually make it work with a number of small changes.

JH: This script worked well for wordpress 1.5, however, it fails on the user's nickname. In my version of wordpress, the nickname field in the users table is called user_nicename instead of user_nickname. I haven't been able to find another older version of WP (pre 2.0) to validate this as standard behavior. More information would be nice.

sprewell - I thought Wordpress people may enjoy this comparison of Typo to Wordpress that I found:

But what I've come to realize is that Typo and WP aren't going to be the same. They're a completely different generation of blog.

Wordpress is older, more mature and generally better off. She's rich and well-known. Every time you turn around she's got some new plug-in enhancing her legs or lips. When she walks down the street every head turns to look, but all she does is sneer at them. Things still look nice on the outside, but inside, that PHP is getting worn down. She may last for a while, but sooner or later the young girls are going to catch up.

Typo, on the other hand, is a struggling young girl. Just moved to the city, she's living in a run down old apartment with just enough money to get by from day to day. But this girl has potential. She knows what she wants to be: sleek & sexy. And she's got the personality to get there too. She's easy-going and agreeable, but still willing to stand her ground. It's going to take some time, but she's willing to work to get there.
