Description
I'm sure this is much requested, but just in case.
I've been comparing Typo, which I use, to WordPress 2.0+, which my wife uses. WordPress is the better choice for her since it has a very nice WSYWIG rich text editor that's simple to use. In contrast, with Typo you need to know Markdown, Textile or good ole (X)HTML. For technically inclined users that's no problem, probably even better. But for users who want to just post content without knowing the gory technical details, its a showstopper.

I think that for most posts, markdown is fine. It's just the same as using a wordprocessor, besides using underscores and asteriks for emphasis. For cases where you need lists or headings, those are just slightly more complicated.
Maybe we just need a markdown syntax cheat sheet? On the other hand, I guess it would be nice if we offered something like the FCK editor as an option. I know one killer feature that I personally miss is a spell checker.
I'd be willing to get the FCK editor into Typo trunk when I have some free time in the next week or so. What do others think about this course of action?

I think it depends on your target audience. For you and me, markdown is fine. Its fairly simple.
For most people though, I think markdown is asking a bit much. Even this trac wiki, for example, has a toolbar to help users put in the correct markup.
The counter argument is that anyone setting up a typo blog is technically savvy. But then again, I setup a WordPress for my wife who is not technially savvy - all she has to do is use it. Or, people could use typo blogs hosted by some 3rd party provider.
So - it all depends on what audience you want typo to reach.

I requested this feature in scott's blog as well. FCKEditor should be a good solution for this. Here is a link that can probably be followed to achieve this.

There should definitely be a button/option to enable the editor. This is a major lacking in Typo currently.
