Today I spent some hours getting the current trunk and translate a lot of things into German. It's not complete and some things could not be resolved by simply changing the de_DE.rb file (pluralization, hardcoded strings) but nonetheless it's much better than the (horrible) trunk version.

A patch has (hopefully ;-) been attached to this issue.

Just a remark:

There's a new I18N rails core API which will be shipped with one of the next rails releases.
